The general headquarters of the armed forces has announced that in accordance with the regulations, conscripts can no longer purchase military exemption papers.

This is because the number of conscripts is not surplus to requirements. The cultural deputy of the general headquarters of the armed forces invited all conscripts to contact relevant departments to register their names. It also enhances the capability of the Iranian armed forces at a time when Iran is facing a possibility of wars on its Eastern and Western frontiers.

In recent years the Iranian military command had allowed many young Iranians to purchase exemptions and not attend the mandatory 2 year military training. Iran has one of the youngest populations in the world and this had created too many conscripts straining the military budget.
